GameStop is now accepting Xbox One Kinect cameras for trade-in at stores across the US. The company will pay $32 in cash or $40 if you want store credit, according to store associates we spoke with in Massachusetts and Connecticut. The trade-in program began today, the same day that Ga meStop kicked off its mega Xbox One sale. Twitter user Wario64 was the first to discover the deal.
If you're a PowerUp Rewards Pro member ($15/y ear), you'll receive an extra 10 percent credit when you trade in a Kinect camera, a GameStop corporate representative told GameSpot.
The move comes on the heels of the release of the $399 Kinect-free Xbox One, which launched on June 9. It's already a hit at GameStop, with management saying just a day after units went on sale that the lower-priced consoles were "flying off the shelves."
Later this year, Microsoft will start telling Xbox One Kinect cameras by themselves, but the company has not announced a price point just yet. It's also unclear how much GameStop will charge for the second-hand Kinects or when they'll go on sale. We'll ha ve that information for you as soon as it becomes available.
