Extended Battlefield Hardline Single-Player Trailer, 2 Multiplayer Modes Revealed at Gamescom

Today during EA's Gamescom briefing, the publisher unveiled the latest details on next year's console and PC shooter, Battlefield Hardline. Developer Visceral Games general manager Steve Papoutsis appeared on stage and showed off a 12-minute single-player trailer and revealed two new game modes for Battlefield Hardline's multiplayer component.

The singl e-player trailer was shot entirely in-game, Visceral says, and highlights Battlefield Hardline's "new style of storytelling." The developer adds that the game's single-player mode was inspired by popular crime dramas on TV today, though no specific comparisons were made.

As for the new multiplayer modes for Battlefield Hardline, those are Hotwire and Rescue. Hotwire is a high-octane r acing-themed mode where you chase down enemies and hang out of windows to gun down your foes. Rescue, on the other hand, is an eSports-themed mode, Papoutsis says. In this mode, five criminals take a hostage and the police have to try to get them back. There is only one hostage per round.

Battlefield Hardline was originally expected to launch this October, but EA recently delayed the game to early 2015 . When it does launch, it will be available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
