Ahead of its release next Friday, Adult Swim has partnered with Universal Pictures to release an 8-bit game based on Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane's movie A Million Ways To Die In The West. Called "Trail to Old Stump," the Oregon Trail-inspired game sees players setti ng out on a journey and soon discovering that there are indeed a million ways to die in the West.
In the game you'll need to stop to hunt to feed your family, cross rivers (in a Frogger-style minigame), save your sheep (in a Donkey Kong-style minigame), and protect your family against accidents and disease. For example, travelers in my group died of a splinter and of cholera, though I'm not sure I could have done anything to stop them from dying.
You can play the game right now at Adult Swim.
A Million Ways To Die In The West hits theaters on May 30 starring Macfarlane, Charlize Theron (The Italian Job, Arrested Development), Liam Neeson (Schindler's List, Star Wars: Episode 1 -- The Phantom Menace), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls, Letters to Juliet), Sarah Silverman (School of Rock, Wreck-It Ralph), and Giovanni Ribisi (Saving Private Ryan, Avatar). The Western comedy is Macfarlane's second film, following 2012's Ted.
If you're looking for a Family Guy video game, FOX and TinyCo recently released free-to-play mobile game Family Guy: The Que st for Stuff on Android and iOS.
