Forza Horizon 2 a "Different Game" on Xbox 360, Xbox One

The Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of upcoming racing game Forza Horizon 2 share the same guiding philosophy, but are to be thought of as "different" games, according to creative director Ralph Fulton.

"It's based in the same world, it's based on the same themes," Fulton told Digital Spy. "Rather than thinking of them as the same game on different platforms, they are different games inspired by the same ideas."

The Xbox One version of Forza Horizon 2 uses the same engine that powered launch title Forza Motorsport 5, while the Xbox 360 version runs on the same engine as the original Forza Horizon from 2012. The games are being developed by two diffe rent teams, with Playground Games handling the Xbox One version and Sumo Digital developing the Xbox 360 version.

Regarding the gameplay differences between the two, Fulton said Forza Horizon 2's weather and Drivatar systems are only possible on Xbox One. "There are things we are doing in Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One that honestly couldn't be done on any other console," he said.

It was also recently confirmed that Forza Horizon 2 will not have microtransactions on Xbox 360 or Xbox One, at least not right out of the gate. Forza Horizon 2 launches September 30. The Xbox One version runs in 1080p/30fps. You can read more about the game in our hands-on preview from E3.
