An eye-opening new comparison video from Digital Foundry reveals the differences between the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of Rockstar Games' open-world action title Grand Theft Auto V. As you'd expect, the current-generation version--due out this fall--looks noticeably better.
When Rockstar Games announced the new version of GTA V for PS4, Xbox One, and PC last week at E3, the company promised "across-the-board graphical and technical improvements." This will include, as we see in the video, increased draw distances, new wildlife, and better resolution overall .

Digital Foundry's detailed assessment goes on to note that street traffic is increased and you'll find more NPCs walking around Los Santos than on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. In addition, water should look more realistic, trees will appear fuller, and fields of grass have been added to bolster a feeling of vibrancy and life.
Rockstar Games has not announced an official resolution or frame rate for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions. Ho wever, Digital Foundry suggests that the PS4 version runs in native 1080p.
GTA V launched for Xbox 360 and PS3 last year, going on to generate $1 billion in revenue in 72 hours. Rockstar Games continues to support the game's multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online, with new content, like this week's "I'm Not a Hipster" update.
