Sony has posted its monthly lists of the best-selling games on the PlayStation Network during May 2014 for each of its platforms. Despite releasing just a few days before the end of the month, Watch Dogs topped the list on the PlayStation 4, but on the PlayStation 3, Ubisoft's open-world game was bested by not one, but two games.
On the PS4 front, Watch Dogs was followed by the new game from Bastion developer Supergiant Games, Transistor, and MLB 14: The Show, both of which debuted during May. Watch Dogs sold more than 4 million units across all platforms in one week, so a strong showing here was to be expected.
On PS3, Minecraft was yet again the best-selling PSN game, a feat it has managed every month since it was launched last December. It's followed by Red Dead Redemption--no doubt thanks in large part to being part of a $5 flash sale at the beginning of the month--and Watch Dogs.
Whereas the two console lists consist of the 20 best-selling games, the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation Portable lists are both limited to the top 10 games. The Vita's best seller was Muramasa Rebirth (which was discounted by 75% to $7.50 for part of the month), while Borderlands 2--the technically inferior version of 2K Games best-selling game ever--fell to number three, behind Soul Sacrifice Delta. On PSP, the top three games were all Persona titles, with Persona 3 Portable leading the way. All three were 75% off ($5 each) for a stretch during May.
