During its E3 press conference in June, Microsoft announced a new Crackdown game exclusively for Xbox One. The company showed off a short teaser trailer but little else has been said about the game since then.

Now, we know a little more about the open-world third-person shooter from Microsoft Game Studios. In an interview with Official Xbox Magazine, creative director Ken Lobb revealed that the developer has big plans for co-op in the game. Instead of making co-op and single-player completely separate experiences, Microsoft is opting for a less traditional, more fluid way of melding the two modes together.

"We're going more towards 'there's just the game,'" Lobb explained. "You're playing the game, it's single, it's co-op, it's a mash-up. Choose at will in the game, instead of hiding behind menus and loads and lobbies. [We're trying to make] the gameplay as if it's one big thing."

Lobb also recently said that the new game will not be entitled Crackdown 3. Instead, it exists more as a sequel to Crackdown 1 than 2, and takes place in a different timeline.
