Lindsay Lohan Sues Over GTA 5, Claims Rockstar Used Her Image Without Permission

Written By blogger on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 | 10:05 AM

Actress Lindsay Lohan has launched a lawsuit against the makers of Grand Theft Auto V, claiming Rockstar Games used the Mean Girls star's likeness without permission in the blockbuster game. The formal lawsuit was filed today in Manhattan court, according to an Associated Press story.

The suit claims GTA V's character Lacey Jonas is an "unequivocal" reference to Lohan. It also goes on to say that Lohan's entire image (including her voice and clo thing styles) were used without permission in GTA V.

The game includes a mission that has players taking home a Lohan-like character to escape the paparazzi. There's even a mission at a hotel that resembles Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood--where Lohan formerly lived for a period of time.

During the mission where you save Jones from the paparazzi, Jonas loses it when Michael says he doesn't know who she is. "I'm the voice of a generation!" she exclaims during conversation.

An initial report from TMZ back in December 2013 claimed that Lohan's lawyers were in the process of drafting a lawsuit. There's no mention today of what Lohan hopes to recover from the lawsuit, but the previous report said Lohan was demanding "serious money."

GTA V launched in Septemb er 2013, generating over $1 billion in revenue in just 72 hours. The game has since shipped 33 million copies on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 alone. Sales are likely to only increase further, as the game is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this fall.

A representative for Take-Two declined to comment.
