New Mortal Kombat X Details Coming in Two Weeks -- What Do You Want to Find Out About?

Written By blogger on Thursday, July 31, 2014 | 9:29 AM

Following the flurry of information we received about Mortal Kombat X at E3 and during the following month, things have gotten somewhat quiet. Fortunately, we don't have much longer to wait before developer NetherRealm Studios reveals more, as series creator Ed Boon has teased some kind of reveal for Gamescom in August.

In response to a tweet asking when we'll learn more about the fighting game, Boon replied, "I won't play GAMES or try to COMpete with you." Put the two groups of emphasized letters together (such a tricky puzzle!) and you've got Gamescom, the name of the upcoming gaming convention in Cologne, Germany that run August 13-17.

Boon didn't provide any further details or hints about what NetherRealm has planned. Given his propensity for teasing inform ation (not unlike this Gamescom reveal) on Twitter, though, don't be surprised if we have some idea of what to expect ahead of the event.

To date, seven characters have been announced, including three returning ones (Raiden, Sub-Zero, and Scorpion) and four new ones (Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah, Cassie Cage, and the combo of Ferra and Torr). We also know a guest character of some kind--think Fred dy Krueger and Kratos in the most recent Mortal Kombat--will likely make the cut, but just who that will be is anyone's guess. 24 actor Keifer Sutherland claimed earlier this year that he had contributed to a new Mortal Kombat game, but Boon has denied this is the case.

Mortal Kombat X--whi ch is pronounced Mortal Kombat "Ex"--is coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC sometime in 2015. For more, check out our latest preview.
