As promised, Sony has revealed the first gameplay video from PlayStation 4-exclusive RPG Bloodborne today at Gamescom.
The trailer shows some huge buildings and enemies, as well as some glimpses of action, which involves the use of melee weapons like swords and scythes as well as guns. It all has a very Dark Souls or Demon's Souls-esque feel to it, which should come as no surprise given that SCE Japan Studio is collaborating on it with From Software, the developer of both of those series. Demon's Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki (who did not work on Dark Souls II) is leading Bloodborne's development.
Bloodborne was first announced in June at E3 after being leaked under the name Project Beast. Only a CG trailer for the game was shown at E3, making today our first opportunity to see it in action.
No exact release date has been announced for Bloodborne; we only know it's coming to PS4 in "early 2015."
