Xbox 360, PS3, 3DS Getting New TMNT Game With "Vast, Interconnected" World

Activision today announced a brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game that is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and 3DS later this year. Developed by Wayforward Technologies (Silent Hill: Book of Memories, DuckTales Remastered), the game is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze, and it will b ridge the gap between season 2 and season 3 of Nickelodeon's TMNT animated show.

According to Activision, TMNT: Danger of the Ooze blends classic 2D fighting and platforming with the 3D art direction of the TV show. Here is how Activision sets up the story.

"The g ame quickly heats up as Shredder, Tiger Claw, and a new army of mutants threaten the streets of New York, forcing Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo to take action into their own hands."

Activision says the unique thing about TMNT: Danger of the Ooze is its "vast, interconnected, non-linear game world," which will reward players for exploration and "creative thinking." Players will have powers, upgrades, and equipment at their disposal as they move through New York, battling bosses.

TMNT: Danger of the Ooze doesn't lock you into one of the four hero turtles, either. Players can freely swap between them, and each has his own unique play strengths and skills. Overall, Activision says combat is "fast-paced," and will feature martial arts-style attacks with combos, counters, and finishers. But if that's not your style, the game also lets you perform stealth-based attacks.

Earlier this year, Activision launched another TMNT game on 3DS to coincide with the release of this summer's new TMNT film starring Megan Fox.
