The neat thing about E3 is it quickly and efficiently reminds you about all the games that were coming out that you'd forgotten about completely. The reimagining, or HD remake, or however you'd like to put it, of Gauntlet is one of them. I played the original Gauntlet once as a kid on an Amiga and thought it would have been cool if my friends and I actually had enough money for us to afford an arcade cabinet so we could all play at once. We didn't have enough money.
Luckily, money is no longer a factor. Neither is the taxing issue of having four people play on a single Amiga keyboard and joystick. Although I'm not sure sitting at home alone is the best option for games like these. I always feel they should be a local multiplayer, sociable affair, where you all get some sweets and chocolate and chips and drinks and turn it into a night. Make it a properly fun affair, you know.
The new Gauntlet launches in September and if you haven't been warded off pre-orders, you can get some in-game bonuses for doing so. I'm not sure how many people would be pre-ordering for Gauntlet over everything else scheduled to come out in the largest release window of the year, but, you know, at least the option's there.
Put the internet to work for you.
