Have you been wondering if the Ubisoft worlds of Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs bear any direct connection? It turns out that a character from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag makes a small cameo in the open-world hacking game.

First spotted on YouTube (via Eurogamer) Ubisoft includes Olivier Garneau, CEO of the fictional corporation Abstergo Entertainment, in one of the side missions in Watch Dogs. He appears as a targ et for protagonist Aiden Pearce.

During the mission, Pearce attempts to eliminate Garneau due to his genetic experimentation and shady corporate practices. Although unsuccessful, Pearce criticizes the actions of Garneau and Abstergo and the CEO is tagged as "Targeted by the Brotherhood" when scanned.

The mission is called "Requiescat in Pace," another clear allusion to Assassin's Creed.

In Assassin's Creed IV, you interact with Garneau during modern day sequences. He speaks about Abstergo's plans to investigate the memories of Assassins to uncover the locations of pieces of Eden and further the Templar cause.

Garneau later disappears on his way to a meeting in Chicago, where Watch Dogs takes place.

In addition to the inclusion of t he Abstergo executive, Ubisoft references Assassin's Creed II during a sequence when Pearce spies on a son and father playing the game.

An email chain in Assassin's Creed IV also mentions ctOS, the security system that Aiden Pearce uses to observe Chicago.

During a Q&A on AC Initiates in December 2013, Assassin's Creed lead writer Darby McDevitt stated that the two universes are not connected. However, the recent discovery o f the Garneau cross-universe story suggests that a recurring overlap is possible.
